The beach city of Torres (literally "towers", pronounced TOH-hees) is an internationally famous tourist destination and the only beach in Rio Grande do Sul with hills right along the waterfront. The city got its name from the cliffs that appear like towers that sit near the beach.

Torres is a perfect place for hiking, paragliding and surfing. The beautiful scenary is complemented each year by the Hot Air Balloon Festival which colors the blue sky with multicolored balloons.

The Guarita Beach is a beautiful and small cove with a stone pinnacle almost in the center and another stone turret right at its side. These are called the Guarita Tower and Southern Tower.

You may just run out of film snapping so many pictures in Torres! Spend a day or spend the whole summer. Remember that the summer months in Brazil run from December to March.
