Nova Petrópolis
Nova Petrópolis (pronounced NOH-vah peh-TRAH-poh-lees) is a German city located in the Gaucho Highlands. It is part of both the Romantic Route tourist trail and the Hydrangea Flower Region. Nova Petrópolis was founded by German immigrants from Pomerania, Saxony, Bohemia and Hunsrück. As you tour the city, note the strong German influence in the architecture, gastronomy and ethnicity of the people. Tourist highlights in the city include the araucaria trees and hydrangea flowers throughout the region, German colonial homes, beautiful gardens and flowers in the city squares. The most popular tourist attractions are the Tourist Information Tower, Green Labyrinth, Immigrant Village Park and Flower Square. |
