Gramado
Gramado (pronounced grah-MAH-doo), located in the center of the Hydrangea Flower Region of the Gaucho Highlands, is the third most-visited tourist destination in all of Brazil! Upon arrival, you will instantly notice the strong German and Italian influence in the city in its gastronomy, architecture and the ethnicity of its people. Every year, Gramado hosts one of the most important film festivals in Latin America: the Brazilian and Latin Film Festival. The highest honor at the festival is the "Kikito" award. Besides the film festival, the yearly Christmas festival known as "Christmas Light" and the popular "Colonial Festival" attract thousands of visitors each year. The latter festival celebrates the legacy of Gramado's original settlers that came from Germany, Italy and the Azores. Besides the festivities, most tourists come to enjoy the beautiful vistas of araucaria trees and hydrangea flowers. |
